It is with profound sadness that the Peabody Babe Ruth Board of Directors shares the news of the passing of one of our own, Fran Callanan. Fran passed away yesterday after his multi-year and courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Coach Fran has not only been a coach in our program for years but was recently elected to his 3rd term to serve on our Board as League Secretary. He had such an impact on our program that this past fall at the League's annual banquet, we named an award after Fran - the Fran Callanan Community Service Award- where Fran was the inaugural recipient. Prior to Babe Ruth, Fran was previously on the Boards of Peabody Tanners Little League Softball and Peabody Western Little League. Between his coaching in softball, baseball, flag, and basketball, Fran has had a positive impact on hundreds of children in Peabody.

The Peabody Babe Ruth Board passes along our condolences to his wife of 17 years, Heather, his children Logan and Rylee, his step children Bobby and Cody, and all who mourn his passing.
